My name is Jared Larson,
a Media and Journalism and Writing for the Screen & Stage student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This site is dedicated to my growing portfolio of writing, graphic design and multimedia projects. I hope to utilize my degree as a feature writer for The Criterion Collection’s magazine Current. The Criterion Collection restores, preserves, and releases “important classic and contemporary films.” Their magazine covers a variety of topics from film history to the behind-the-scenes of restoring films or designing releases. Interviewing contemporary independent filmmakers and heavily analyzing classic works sounds like a dream.
Just like Joe Gillis, one of my favorite film protagonists, I’m a fellow hack screenwriter. Outside of journalism, this is what I pursue in my free time. I figure what could be better than being an interviewer for Criterion … being an interviewee!
